The pteranodon sternbergi is regarded as a species of pteranodon due to its unuiqe crest shape which distinguishes it. One of the most noticeable features is its beak which curves upward and is very sharp which makes it perfect for piercing through fish and other small marine creatures. Like many pterosaurs it lived almost exclusively on fish and would make almost daily trips to the inland sea to acquire this preferred food. The exact purpose of its crest is unknown but like nearly all pterosaurs would've been used as some sort of display feature. It would've also featured a light covering of fuzz covering its body which helped insulate itself and may have been water proof.
