This hadrosaur is the iconic and well known parasaurolophous and is one of the most famous dinosaurs ever discovered. The most striking feature is its large tube like crest which protrudes from the back of its head. It's likely that the crest was used for display to impress females which had smaller crest, or possibly it may have functioned as a form of communication by producing a trumpet like sound. Although new studies have suggested that the crest may have been used for temperature control but the exact purpose of this dinosaurs crest is still a mystery. The parasaurolophous would've been a magnificent sight to behold in creatacous North America, they may have travelled in large herds for protection and social benefit, allowing them to mingle and form closely knit bonds that would've been key in keeping each other safe from danger.
