Nanuqsaurus is known as the "dwarf T.rex" because of its relatively small size compared to other tyrannosaurs. This predator lived during the Cretaceous and may have grown to such small size because of the area it inhabited. At the time Nanuqsaurus lived towards the northern hemisphere on an isolated island chain near what is now Alaska. The islands provided a sanctuary for many stranded and isolated species including small pachyrhinosaurs and edmontosaurs. These two herbivores were probably a favored prey item for the fierce Nanuqsaurus. The general body shape of this animal is small and stocky with short legs suggesting this animal was not a runner but rather an ambush hunter. It's more likely that it hunted pachyrhinosaurs more often due to the fact that they were pretty slow and could not easily escape, but this didn't mean that the pachyrhinosaurus was an easy catch. The pachyrhinosaurus featured a spiky frill and an attitude to match, making it a tough foe. The Nanuqsaurus is one of the smallest tyrannosaurs ever found and it's believed that this animal had feathers in order to protect it from the harsh artic wind and snow.
