The astonishing discovery of Diabloceratops revealed one of the most puzzling and unusual ceratopsians to ever be found. For starters this animals location is enough of an oddity as its one of the only ceratopsians to be found in the American southwest along with its distant cousin the nasutoceratops. It's frill is shaped like a polygon and was covered in spikes that protruded from the sides and eventually transitioned into a pair of long horns that grew upward and curved outward. The horns wouldn't of had too much of an actual defensive purpose but would've been a likely tool for intimidation used to frighten predators and male rivals. The frill additionally would've been brightly colored in males to serve as a display feature and attract the opposite sex.
